Welcome to my website. My name is Jarle Grimsland. I live in Gjerstad in Norway. My workshop is situated at the Mølla, where is also held the Mølla Music Festival, as well as my friend Knut Magne Valle music studio (Mølla Lydstudio).
I will present you my work at making string instruments.

I have built instruments since I was a kid. Then I really started in the school, about 1997, this is an instruments-making school in Moss, Norway. It was a 3 years school. During the first year, we are taught to make all kind of instuments. For example, I made a guitar for children at the school during the first year. Then for 2 years, I made acoustic violins.
After the school, I started with electric instruments. I have done mostly violins.
I made guitars for Knut Magne Valle (Arcturus), a cello for Live Julianne Kostøl (Pantheon I), a violin for Sareeta (Ram-Zet).
I'm now working on a bass-guitar for Hugh James Mingay (Arcturus). And an electric violin for a friend in Bergen.
I mostly make my instruments in alder (svartor), a wood from Norway, fingerboard are made of hard wood from the rainforest. I try to use as most as possible wood from Norway.
The design is created as per the client wishes, as well as the color. I paint the instruments with (vernis) (beis), and/or transparent lack to see the wood natural design.
Mechanics and microphones are chosen as well by the clients.
I also do other things like furniture, clocks. Or as per client wish.
